The Net 33 Club (Population: 2)
Week 9 is in the books, and someone decided to turn it up. Two 9-1 drubbings, a pair of net 33s on the same day, and a guy who's played once all season rolling in and winning. Let's get into it.
The Net 33 Club (Population: 2)
Jason Maxwell fired a 42 gross (net 33 with his 9 hcp) and absolutely buried Tom Pehr 9–1. Meanwhile, Jimmie Rains somehow also shot net 33 — off a 48 gross and 15 strokes. Two completely different routes to the same number. Jason's was cleaner. Jimmie's was more impressive. Take your pick.
Tom Pehr had a Tuesday to forget
Lost 9–1 to Jason Maxwell in an actual matchup. Then got beaten 7–2 by Orlando Flores's card round. Pehr was virtually 0-for-Tuesday. On the bright side, you can't get retroactively beaten by a card again.
Thomas Jaramillo posted a 54 gross and lost 9–1 to Andy Dean
Andy shot 42. The math wasn't kind. Thomas is going to need to buy Andy a drink.
Mike Keefe, professional ghost, appeared out of nowhere and won 7–3 over Dennis Candelaria
That's now his only round of the year, and he's sitting at 7 points total. Some guys pace themselves.
Orlando Flores leads the league — from his couch
He carded in a net 38 on Jun 16, earned 7 points, and never laced up his shoes. He now sits atop the standings at 52.0 points. Nobody else in this league has figured out how to score without showing up. Teach the class, Orlando.
Around the league
Jimmie is 2.5 back. Jason is 4 back. Todd and Kardas aren't out of it either. Plenty of golf left.
